    It is not quite there

I bought this backpack recently and had been using it as my daily carrying bag. This bag is NOT as functional as it could and should be. Let’s start by the outside pockets they are big, but, if you put in there anything other than the huge water bottle it will probably fell out. Then, the small pocket inside, is NOT deep enough so when I put my keys and my wallet inside it, they end up in the bottom of the bag with my camera and daily essentials. I used to own the first version of this bag, it had two pockets inside where I could put my keys and my wallet and they were deep enough to keep them there.
I love the leather lining, is soft and looks very elegant. The previous version was rugged like if it was meant to be for outdoors activities. This version is more refine and lighter. Also, I like the closure (Grenade bag closure?) is very easy to open and close it.
I would had loved to have a leather flab for one or both of the outside pockets like in the FPBP to keep my stuff in place, also would had loved to have a deeper pocket inside or some sort of magnetic closure for the one in existence.

    Short Straps

I am enjoying the backpack thus far. The leather they used is in all of the right places. It is smaller than you think and the mouth of the backpack doesn’t open quite as much as I would like. The inside pocket is a bit awkwardly placed, so you are fighting with it when putting things in and out.

The straps are too short if you have broader shoulders. I am on the second to last hole and it is still a bit tight. Need another 3-4 holes. Good if you are slim or narrow shoulders, not if you are broad or big shouldered.

Overall, still saddleback quality but bag could be 10% bigger.

    Just wow

Purchased for husband, but I may be stealing it back. Love the leather lining, and how the canvas/tumbled leather allow the bag to hug the curves of your back on day 1.

I cannot believe what I'm seeing

I am a woman who is almost 50 and I am stunned with the craftmanship and quality of this backpack. I have been looking for YEARS for a backpack but none ever measured up....until now. This is a beautiful beast of a backpack and I can't wait to break it in. I am truly impressed. Thank you Saddleback for checking off one of many things on my bucket list.

    There Is A Man...

This pack is perfect for a grown man. I'm 54, 6'1" and 220lbs...and it looks like this pack belongs on my shoulder.
It holds a lot of weight without issue and the color blends into the background quite easily. The fabric is tougher than me and doesn't mind moisture...it moves with my movements without resistance and is a pleasure to carry.
The inside side pocket without the flap holds a RooGrr three five seven in it's iwb perfectly snug.
The adjustable, one-handed flap for opening is genius and the drawstring closure is quite useful.
The only thing I'd add would be one D-ring on the outside to clip a water bottle, hat or tie a bandanna to. Food for thought.
