The Saddleback Leather Gun Sleeve is a high-quality, full-grain leather rifle case that is designed to protect your firearm and last for years.

A Leather Gun Sleeve is a vital piece of equipment for any hunter, outdoorsman, sports shooter, or anyone who owns a gun, even for self-protection. But most gun sleeves are made with cheap materials and construction, resulting in a short lifespan. Our Full Grain Leather Gun Sleeve is different. We make our gun sleeves with the same high-quality materials and attention to detail that we put into all of our designs, so you can be sure they will last for years.

The Saddleback Leather Gun Sleeve is designed with the largest pieces of full grain leather possible, so there are fewer seams. This gun sleeve is as strong as anything you would carry in it. To protect your firearm, we lined the main body of the leather rifle case with sheepskin (this pulls moisture from your gun). We used only the strongest 316 stainless steel clasps, so they will never rust and can hold up to 750 pounds. We offer a 100-year warranty on this leather gun sleeve, as with most all our designs.

Grab Handles

This updated leather gun sleeve has new grab handles for field carry (nondetachable) and is designed in such a way as to keep the leather rifle cases balanced and level while in transit. It is the sort of thing you want when you go shooting at the range or taking your son to the back 40 to show him how to hunt.

Gun Sleeve Shoulder Strap

The shoulder strap is built extra strong, durable, adjustable, and removable for just-in-case situations. You can use it as a tie-down or hang things. It can be clipped to the top or bottom of the gun sleeve for carrying ease. It has one shoulder pad to allow the leather gun sleeve to carry comfortably on either shoulder. And it attaches to just the right places, so it stays out of your boots when you walk.

Leather Gun Cases with an Exterior Pocket

The new exterior pocket with buckle closure is perfect for extra shells, chokes, or other items.

The leather gun sleeve has grab handles and a shoulder strap for easy transport, and an exterior pocket for extra ammunition.

Adjustable Closure Length on this Leather Shotgun Case

The attached opening of this leather gun sleeve is adjustable, depending on the length of your shotgun or rifle, and it fits up to a 28” barrel. Please note that this DOES NOT fit guns with Scopes.

A Leather Rifle Case with No Breakable Parts

There are no breakable parts like zippers, snaps, buttons, velcro, or other Hello Kitty construction. The flap closure is adjustable instead of one size fits all, and the side pocket has ample room for shells and other hunting gear. It was designed around quality, performance, durability, and refined beauty. People will notice this design when you show up at the firing range.

Reinforced Leather Gun Sleeve

Anywhere there could be stress, it receives stitching, then a rivet, and usually, a reinforcing hidden Polyester strap sewn in.

Large Pieces of Full Grain Leather

It is designed with the largest leather pieces possible, so there are fewer seams. Seams are where leather gun sleeves start falling apart, so we designed this with as few as possible.

The leather rifle case is designed for durability and has no breakable parts.

Stitching

We set our industrial sewing machines to only five stitches per inch, so there’s more leather between the needle holes. That’s important because a sewing machine is really a perforation machine and if those holes are too close together, then the leather will tear more easily. As a result, this gun sleeve is as strong as anything you would carry in it.

Materials

The materials used in this leather gun sleeve are of the highest quality. The leather is full grain, while the stitching is done with a UV-resistant thread for durability. The sheepskin is the highest quality, and the clasps are surgical grade 316 stainless steel rated for 750 lbs., ensuring that your firearm will be safe and secure while in the sleeve.

Sheepskin Lining in The Best Leather Rifle Cases

To protect your firearm, we lined the main body of these leather rifle cases with sheepskin to help protect your investments. Sheepskin wicks moisture away from the gun instead of letting it stay on the gun. God engineered sheepskin pretty well. Did you know that bed-ridden patients with sheepskin sheets don’t often get bed sores because there is airflow under them? We DO NOT recommend storing guns in any gun sleeve because there should be some air movement, so the shotgun doesn’t rust. But if you had to store it in some gun sleeve, I’d choose this one.

The best leather rifle cases have sheepskin lining to protect the firearm and are made with full grain leather for durability.

Full Grain Leather Gun Cases

Our full grain leather is the strongest and most durable that we can find because it still has the full amount of grain on the leather. Every skin comes with what is called “grain” on the top layer. They are the toughest and most water resistant fibers of the whole hide. But cowhides come thick and usually split in half at the tannery. The top half is the toughest because it has all of the grain still on it, and the bottom half has been neutered. Leather that doesn’t have grain on it is called genuine, suede or split leather. If you find a really inexpensive leather gun sleeve, that’s why, because it uses cheap material. Removing all of the grain from a leather hide is like removing the shingles from your roof. How stupid is that? And not only is our leather the strongest grade, but it’s thicker than boot leather.

The hardware on our gun sleeve is extremely durable and can handle up to 750 lbs of force.

Thread to Keep Your Leather Gun Sleeve Together

Not only do we sew this leather gun sleeve with as few seams as possible, but in each of those seams where leather comes together, we sew with a UV resistant continuous filament Polyester thread instead of the inferior and cheap Nylon thread. The good thing about Polyester is that it never deteriorates. The bad thing about Polyester is that it never deteriorates. Polyester will give you a bad night’s sleep when it comes to bedding. Polyester clothing will give you skin problems, but when it comes to thread, Polyester will give you a lifetime of service. And we use the thick German double ought thread too.

316 Stainless, Because Your Gun Deserves The Best

This is like killing a fly with a shotgun, but we decided to develop our own custom hardware anyways. If you talk to a metallurgist, they’ll tell you it’s too expensive and just plain overkill, but we have never had an issue with our hardware failing. If your life had to depend on a hardware performing, you’d want it to depend on ours. The clasps that clip onto the body of this leather gun sleeve are rated for 750 lbs.

Free Tips

When you shop for quality, take all of this into account. If you already purchased some cheap brand, check the return policy to see if you can take back your purchase. Otherwise, use it to hold something less important than your gun. Some people buy gun cases based on the price, don’t do that; you will end up with some item that will not last. You don’t buy the cheapest shotgun because you want to trust it; same with your leather gun cases. And don't forget about our Leather Pistol Case!

    Not crazy about the design
First off the leather is excellent quality. That said I am disappointed with the liner. The sheep skin should run all the way to the top. It will keep the end of the case from being floppy. I have a shotgun with 30” barrels a d if I snitch the strap all the way down there is still room at the end. I can’t understand why anyone would claim their case was a little short. They may have redesigned it and made it longer. Their are many great examples of shotgun cases out there it’s as if they wanted to design a case shaped for a rifle but the length of a shotgun and the buckle made to account for the length of both. They should shorten it and say it’s for a non scoped rifle or add more liner and shorten the closure strap.
